Mental Health Week takes place from May 5th to 11th
This week, May 5th to 11th, is Mental Health Week! The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is highlighting an important theme this year: "Unmasking Mental Health." This is a powerful reminder that we all play a role in breaking down the stigma around mental health and addiction. Throughout the week, our students will be learning valuable lessons about mental well-being.

May is Asian and South Asian Heritage Month
Did you know that May is Asian and South Asian Heritage Month in Canada? This is a time to celebrate the cultures and significant contributions of Asian Canadians from East Asia, South Asia, and Western, Central, and Southeast Asia.
We also recognize that Asian Canadians have faced, and continue to face, discrimination. We encourage everyone to help combat stereotypes and anti-Asian racism. Speaking out against hate and reporting incidents are important steps. Remember, even small actions can foster a more welcoming and safe environment for our children.
May is Jewish Heritage Month
May is also Jewish Heritage Month in Canada. This is a time for all of us to learn about the rich history, culture, and many contributions of Jewish Canadians. Jewish people have made a big difference in communities across Canada, and we celebrate their wonderful contributions to things like literature, art, science, and philosophy.
During Jewish Heritage Month, it is also important to remember that we must all work to stop antisemitism (hatred of Jewish people). We encourage you to speak up against hateful words or actions, report any discrimination, and help yourselves and your children learn about the dangers of antisemitism. By doing these things, we can make our school and community a more welcoming and safe place for everyone.
