The countdown to summer holidays is on, with only a handful of school days left of the 2024-2025 school year! Where did the year go! This time of year is a busy one when staff is hard at work on year-end plans including events and activities for our students, progress reporting, and support for students transitioning to new schools.
If your family plans to move this summer, please get in touch with the office. We are happy to help guide you through the school transition process.
National Indigenous Peoples Day - June 21st
Friday is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day that celebrates and recognizes First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures. It is observed on the 21st of June to recognize the summer solstice, the day of maximum daylight, and its importance to Indigenous Peoples. It’s a day for all Canadians to recognize, celebrate, and support the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
Queen Mary Grade 6 Leaving Ceremony on June 25th
Parents of grade 6 students. Mark your calendars ! We'd love for you to join us for the Grade 6 Leaving Ceremony at Queen Mary Street PS this Thursday at 10:00am - (please be seated by 9:45am).
We'll start with a special ceremony in the gym, and then follow with refreshments afterward. If you are bringing Queen Mary siblings, you will need to sign them out at the office as staff won't be able to supervise them.

June Report Cards: What You Need to Know
Your child's June report card will be emailed to you on Thursday, June 26th.
To open it, you'll need your child's Ontario Education Number (OEN). Please enter it in this format: XXX-XXX-XXX, including the hyphens.
You can find your child's OEN on their November progress report or February report card. An orange reminder sheet with their OEN was also sent home this past week.

2025-2026 School Year Calendars

School Bus and Pedestrian Safety Day on Sunday, August 24th
This year’s school bus and pedestrian safety day is taking place on Sunday, August 24th. It’s an opportunity for the whole family to learn about school bus and pedestrian safety; children will be able to ride a real bus and join the Ottawa Safety Council for safety training. 2025-26 School Year Plan of Care for Students with Medical Conditions
The OCDSB has a new, easier way to handle medical paperwork for your child.
You can now complete your child's Plan of Care form online. It's secure and doesn't require a paper copy or a doctor's signature. PLAN OF CARE FOR STUDENTS WITH MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Just fill out all the necessary sections and click "SUBMIT." You can drop off any medications for these conditions at the office in September.
If you prefer a paper form, please contact the school office.
Soccer in Schools
Last week our students from kindergarten to grade 6 had an opportunity to enjoy soccer clinics from our community partners; Soccer Shots and Ottawa South United Schools Team

Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program focused on character development, skill-building, and fun. DENTAL SCREENING
Has your child missed the school dental screening? Community Dental Screenings are held over the summer at Neighbourhood Health and Wellness Hubs. The calendar poster is attached.
Dental screenings and fluoride varnish applications are free for all ages. Registered dental hygienists can also support clients with the Healthy Smiles Ontario and Ontario Seniors Dental Care Plan enrollments.
