Queen Mary News - Week of June 2
Happy June!!! This year has certainly flown by.
A big thank you to everyone who made last Thursday's Festival of Cultures such a success! It was wonderful to see students proudly showcase clothing significant to their cultures and to taste the delicious array of food from around the globe. This event truly highlighted our rich and diverse school community. Thank you to the event organizers, all who contributed to the potluck, and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us.
We're excited for warmer weather and increased outdoor activities for our students! To ensure everyone enjoys the sunshine safely, we kindly ask you to follow these "sun smart" guidelines:
- Apply sunscreen before school each day.
- Send your child to school with a sun hat or baseball cap.
- Help your child learn to apply their own sunscreen.
- Please note that aerosol sunscreen sprays are not permitted.
- Send a labeled bottle of unscented sunscreen in their backpack for reapplication throughout the day.
- Make sure to send your child with a water bottle!
QUEEN MARY LIBRARY NEWS: Indigo Adopt-a-School Update
The incredible team at Chapters Gloucester truly outdid themselves this year, raising $10,995 for our school library through their Indigo Adopt-a-School program. That's a whole lot of books!
Ms. Alince has been carefully spending every single dollar to bring in beautiful, brand-new, and wonderfully diverse books that are just waiting for our students.
Our grand REVEAL happened today! We invited students for a sneak peek of the new additions to our library. Plus, they had an opportunity to thank our amazing Chapters partners for making this possible.
Spring Fire Drills and Lockdown Practice
This spring, we will have our final fire drill practices (three remaining) and our lockdown practice. Staff will review all procedures with students beforehand.
EQAO
Grade 3 students completed their EQAO assessment last week and our Grade 6 EQAO assessment are taking place this week on June 2nd to 5th, with a makeup day on June 6th. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's Grade 6 teacher.

Friday, June 6th is a PA Day for writing report cards. There will be no school for students. Report cards will be sent to families as a password-protected email attachment during the last week of the month. More details on how to access the reports will be coming soon.
